Research into fonts for music video / font vote

For our music video an important feature for us to consider is the presentation. We have decided to include text at the beginning to introduce the artist and the song title, in addition to a simple text stating 'THE END' when the music video has finished. It is essential to use an ideal font to suit the genre and general theme of the song and music video. In this post we shall be doing further research into choosing the correct font, whether it should be serif or sans serif and which one of OUR collection is the most popular.

One of our initial favourites in regards to inspiration is the font used in Telephone - Lady GaGa. We felt that it was contemporary and eye-catching, which is vital since we are trying to materialise our video to be as professional as possible. (the fonts can be found from 0:05 to 0:24)

After reviewing the song 'I need your love' we ultimately made the decision to follow the theme of romance intertwined with various others including; death, heartache and happiness. The theme of death occurs in the present shown through the scenes involving the piano and graveyard scenes. By isolating the character, she is represented as vulnerable and lonely. Themes of happiness are reflected within the memories of the two characters. Their romance is also presented as their intimate moments of them both holding hands and spending time with each other.

Final song choice

As a group we have decided to use the acoustic cover of 'I Need Your Love' by Ellie Goulding. We feel that by using an acoustic version of the song, we will be able to create a better narrative. We originally decided to choose 'I Need Your Love' by Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding, but over the past week an acoustic version has been uploaded onto Ellie Goulding's SoundCloud which we feel will be much easier to use.

On 24th June 2013, we rung Columbia Records asking for the rights to use the song. They acknowledged that it will be used for educational purposes only and gave us an email address to email with our school details, explaining that they will send out a letter confirming that this will be Ok.

Throughout our research and planning we have searched through a variety of songs, but ultimately we preferred 'I Need Your Love' as our song choice, since we feel that this song has meaningful lyrics and the ideology is something which we could relate to whilst we are creating the video.
